Description: In real life, a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system is a software used by emergency services to manage calls, dispatch resources, and track units in real time. It’s most commonly used to track other units’ locations, serve as a private messaging system between units as well as a broadcasting system from supervising units to relay important communications.

How this would be beneficial: An incredibly simplified version of this system would go a long way for Civil Protection. Rather than relying on constant radio communications, it would be simpler for units to update their location whilst using this system. I can see this being used in a realistic scenario where the units would need to maintain complete silence. So, rather than breaking the silence and revealing yourself to the enemies, they’d be able to use the simplified messaging system of the CAD and relay simplified and coded messages (e.g. “UTL 647-E. MULTIPLE NECROTICS PRESENT, 10-0.”). Or, instead of clogging up the radio chatter, units would be able to see other units’ locations whenever they’re trying to locate them instead of asking them constantly their current location.

Final note: Of course, this suggestion is completely subjective and depends on the player. Lore-wise, if I’m not wrong, it would be something only Overwatch is able to access and see rather than each individual unit (but then again, we don’t 100% know what they see in Half-Life 2). And also, it’s cool and spec for units to constantly blabber some shit about their status, location, where they’re going and when they’re gonna take a shit. Like I said, this is subjective, but I do think it’d add a bit more flair to the Civil Protection gameplay.

Willard had this throughout their V2 as far as I know, and frankly I think it made it impossible to engage in rogue activities.

I was given rogue perms near the end of the servers time, and throughout the entire thing, it was as if I was never given the permission due to the constant location readout which told all units every single time I went into any area. This would simply block out the ability to silently engage in rogue roleplay, unless there were no other units involved.

If maybe you can toggle off location readouts for yourself, I can see this working out, anything further with how its perceived is entirely in character.

Instead what could be done, whenever a Civil Protection team is sent into an area for a critical mission, they can enable it-- but it should generally stay off by default. Only to add pure autonomy and out-of-character ability to properly do out with their character, instead of acting as an NPC or so
do with that as you will, i dont think i'll personally be able to understand what I even tried to say myself

I'm with @atlassu on this one; this would make it harder for players to do rogue or corrupt activities and it's not something I am looking to add right now.

Making it toggle-able is not a proper solution either, because then your character could be questioned ICly about why they would turn the tracker off if they have nothing to hide, and all your peers would be larping as James Doakes.

As for using a chat in complete silence, I think it's more fun and suspenseful for a team to go into a midnight operation and for everyone else to eagerly wait to hear back from them. If they need to communicate close range, there is always the /MeV (/MeVisual) and /SV (SayVisual) commands.
