Born out of the devastation and destruction of the Seven-Day War, the Engineer Core is an organisation made up of both skilled and unskilled labourers. This organisation was among the first initiatives by the Interim Global Authority toward collaboration with the Combine. In the beginning, the Engineer Core was a forced conscription force; non-skilled civilians, regardless of experience, were pressed into service to begin mass reconstruction and eventual integration into the technological and infrastructural will of the interdimensional empire, which now ruled over Earth.
As the primary maintenance and repair force on Earth, the Engineer Core is now one of the largest civilian organisations across the globe. As years have passed since the devastation of the initial invasion, the Engineer Core has since refocused its stated goal toward repairs of existing infrastructure, management of electrical grids and infestation eradication.
Within City 8, the Engineer Core remains a steadfast and reliable partner of local Precinct government and continues collaborative efforts with the Possession and Assets Authority. The former deals with logistics and businesses, and the Engineer Core focuses on manual labour. Such a status quo is often a fragile one, and the balancing of relations can be an exhaustive effort.
The Engineer Core pushes forward within City 8, continuously and relentlessly in the pursuit of its stated goals and expansion through seemingly never-ending recruitment drives. They remain an influential organisation both within local politics and the wider city.
