Kasai had always been a simple man, yearning for a life of tranquility. He sought to carve out his own path. He dreamed about how he would finish his studies and one day do something great in life; the usual bullcrap. Unfortunately for him, fate had other plans on the table.
Having been born on December 23rd, 1987 in Yokohama, Japan, Kasai experienced the horrors of the 7 Hour War at the tender age of 16 - a traumatic and scarring event for him at the time, but one that shaped him into who he is today. Torn away and separated from his parents, Kasai had to endure the bleakness of the Combine camps with other teenagers around his age. Those years marked what would become the darkest chapter of his life up until that point.
Eventually, cast into the new world, Kasai was forcefully relocated from city to city like everyone else, having to adapt to the new dystopian reality that the Combine had crafted.
Kasai was aware that there were people who sucked up to the Combine, the so-called ‘collaborators’, and others who worked against them, the ‘rebels’. He viewed both groups as misguided, each for their own reasons, and thus found solace in walking the tightrope between them. Or, at least he tried to. Sometimes, life forced him to lean one way or the other.
His several years of nomadic existence being relocated from city to city fostered a sense of fraternity and even compassion for his cohorts around him. A sense of brotherhood, even. This shaped him into the person that he is today, driven by personal aspirations, yet extending kindness to those who returned the favor.
With each relocation, Kasai was forced into an uphill battle to maintain his composure, both physically and mentally; something that broke him more and more as time went on. Every time, he practically started anew; from square one. His trials never waned, despite his unyielding efforts at doing so.
Today, Kasai finds himself in City 8 yet again. A familiar environment; one that is the closest resemblance to ‘home’ that he has had his entire life. He endeavors solely to survive and eke out a livelihood, employing any means necessary to ensure he lives to see another day.
