These are all the currently active Combat Rules & Guidelines for the Half-Life 2 Roleplay Server. We acknowledge that reading and following a huge list of rules can be boring and annoying at times. For this, we tried to keep them as clear and short as possible. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some players with their intent to bypass these rules, if a member of the Administration Team feels like you shouldn't be doing something, please listen to them. If you disagree or have a problem with an action taken against you by a member of the Administration Team, please contact a Staff Manager.
1) SHOOT-TO-KILL IS ONLY ENFORCED ON:
- Firearm vs Firearm
- Firearm vs Melee (Long Range)
This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Senior Administrator or above, or if agreed on by all involved parties.
2) SHOOT-TO-ROLEPLAY IS ONLY ENFORCED ON:
- Firearm vs Melee (Short Range)
- Melee vs Melee
This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Senior Administrator or above, or if agreed on by all involved parties.
3) SHOOT-TO-MISS IS DISCRETIONARY
You are not obligated to use Shoot-To-Miss during a combat situation, UNLESS the instigating party is already S2Ming (This can be ascertained by the lack of a S2K countdown, and the instigating party not waiting for a response action). This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Game Master or a member of the Administration Team. Note that you MUST perform an attack action prior to initiating a Shoot-To-Miss engagement. You cannot initiate a S2M scenario without an attack action.
4) ROLLING IS DISCRETIONARY
You are not obligated to use a roll during a combat situation. The default system is Play-To-Lose. This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Game Master or a member of the Administration Team, or if agreed on by all involved parties.
5) YOU MUST WAIT 3 SECONDS BEFORE INITIATING S2K
After pasting, typing or pressing your attack bind, an automatic 3-second countdown will begin in the chat box. During that time:
Note that for the countdown to start, you MUST include "(S2K)" at the start or end of your attack action, otherwise, the countdown will not be triggered.
- Neither party may engage the other - as in, open fire.
- All parties are free to move and manouver as they please. This includes running away and chasing.
- Neither party is obligated to RP a reaction once S2K has begun.
This rule does not apply If your target runs away from you without any roleplay. You may begin S2K without a countdown in this case.
6) YOU MUST HAVE A VALID REASON FOR ATTACKING SOMEONE
"My character is mentally unstable" is not a valid reason to attack someone. If you are unsure whether your reason is valid or not, please consult with a Member of the Administration Team before carrying out your action.
7) THERE IS A 15 MINUTE COMBAT-LOG COOLDOWN
You need to wait at least 15 minutes before disconnecting or switching character after another party (attempts to) engage in combat with you. If the hunting party makes contact with you during that time-frame, the timer resets to 0. After 15 minutes pass, you may switch characters or disconnect at your discretion. If you are unsure whether 15 minutes have passed, consult a member of the Administration Team.
