LANCER NETWORKS SERVER GUIDELINES

This thread lists all the current active Rules & Guidelines for the Half-Life 2 Roleplay Server:
Note: We acknowledge that reading and following a huge list of rules can be boring and annoying at times. For this, we tried to keep them as clear and short as possible. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some players with their intent to bypass these rules, if a Staff Member feels like you shouldn't be doing something, listen to them. If you disagree or have a problem with an action taken against you by a member of the Staff Team, please contact the current Administrative Manager or anyone above.

(S1) General Rules:
*Important and strict rules are marked in RED.
  1. DO NOT (ATTEMPT TO) CREATE LOOPHOLES.
    1. Do not attempt to create Loopholes in the rules. Self explanatory. Use Common Sense.
  2. DO NOT METAGAME.
    1. Metagaming is when you use information that you acquired Out-Of-Character (Discord, Steam, Teamspeak, Skype, etc) In-Character.
  3. DO NOT METABAIT.
    1. Metabaiting is when you intentionally post In-Character information Out-Of-Character for others to see (Discord, Steam, Teamspeak, Skype, etc).
  4. DO NOT POWERGAME.
    1. Powergaming is when you force your actions on other characters, aka not letting them react to your action (eg. “/me approaches the man, snapping his neck”).
  5. DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXPLOITS & GLITCHES.
    1. Taking advantage of exploits and/or glitches means that you are aware of a certain exploit or glitch in the server and are using it to gain an advantage over other characters or players in any way, shape or form.
  6. DO NOT INITIATE A RANDOM DEATH-MATCH.
    1. Initiating a RDM means that you physically attack someone (with a SWEP or weapon) for no reason and without appropriately roleplaying your action.
    2. If you are unsure whether something you are about to do is considered RDM, please consult with a Member of Staff before carrying out your action.
  7. DO NOT AVOID ROLEPLAY.
    1. Avoiding Roleplay means that, through a number of different ways, you avoid the roleplay situation that you are on by (for example) disconnecting, going AFK, etc.
  8. DO NOT STALL ROLEPLAY.
    1. Stalling Roleplay is when you (for example) argue in LOOC or OOC about the situation you are on if you do not like or approve of it.
    2. If you believe something is wrong, consult with a Member of Staff after the situation is over.
  9. DO NOT USE ‘THROWAWAY’ CHARACTERS.
    1. ‘Throwaway’ Characters are characters which are created to do something specific which can ICly get you in trouble in any way, shape or form which can also lead to a Permanent Kill so that you protect your main character(s) from such a punishment (eg. Mugging a Civil Protection Unit or a Union Official).
  10. DO NOT MISUSE PERFORM COMMANDS.
    1. Misusage of Perform Commands is when you (for example) use the /mec or /itc commands when you are clearly visible to other people.
    2. If you are unsure whether you should use close, medium or long range /me or /it, please consult with a Member of Staff.
  11. DO NOT CONNECT YOUR CHARACTERS.
    1. Connecting your Characters means that two (or more) characters that you own are connected with each other in some way, shape or form (Give each other items, tokens, information, etc)
  12. DO NOT MISUSE OR ABUSE TRUSTED PERMISSIONS.
    1. Misusage or Abuse of Trusted Permissions means abusing things like flags, faction ‘whitelists’, etc.
    2. This also includes any donation rewards you may be given.
  13. DO NOT BACKSEAT ADMINISTRATE.
    1. Backseat Administrating is when someone has violated the community guidelines and instead of alerting a Member of Staff, they take action themselves (eg. Going after and killing a minge).
    2. This rule does not apply if said minge is still being disruptive to others after Staff was called.
  14. DO NOT DISPLAY UNSERIOUS OR DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR.
    1. This is a serious-roleplay server. Do not act in an unserious or disruptive behavior in any way, shape or form.
  15. YOU CANNOT USE ‘GHOST-WEAPONS/ITEMS’.
    1. A ‘Ghost-Weapon/Item’ is a weapon which the character has roleplayed acquiring through a /me, but does not actually have it in-game (eg. /me leans down and searches the trash can. After a while, he pulls out an old pipe).
    2. You are free to roleplay finding a weapon/item after actually physically finding the weapon/item.
  16. YOU CANNOT VOID A SITUATION BY YOURSELF.
    1. In order for a situation to be voided, all involved parties must agree to it.
    2. A situation may be force-voided if a Senior Administrator or higher says so.
  17. DO NOT ERP OUTSIDE OF /MEC.
    1. Roleplaying any NSFW actions of any kind outside of the /mec command is prohibited.
    2. F2B (Fade to Black) must be enforced if any of the involved parties request it.
    3. If an action is non-consensual ICly, it requires OOC consent from all involved parties.
  18. DO NOT DISRESPECT ANY PLAYERS OUT-OF-CHARACTER.
    1. Do not disrespect players in the OOC chat in any way, shape or form.
    2. If you have a problem with another player, take it to PMs or contact a member of Staff.
  19. A MINIMUM OF 3 CPS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE AN ATTACK.
    1. If you wish to carry out an attack against the union (mugging/attacking a CP, CWU, CMU or any other union faction, or stealing from a store/other union establishment) a minimum of 3 Civil Protection characters are required to be online.
    2. If you are unsure if the action you are about to execute is considered an attack against the union, consult with a member of Staff.
  20. THE CP TO CITIZEN RATIO IS 1:2.
    1. There have to be 2 citizens for every 1 Civil Protection unit. If the ratio is not met, stay on a non-cp character.
    2. Union Factions such as CWU, CMU & UAB are included in the citizen count.
    3. Factions like Birds, Zombies and other non-human factions are not included in the citizen count.
    4. This rule is excempt on special occasions like training, other events, or if given permission by an Administrator+.
  21. DO NOT MINGEGRAB.
    1. When picking up items, you must roleplay doing so if other characters are nearby.
    2. This rule is not limited to items. It also includes using fabricators to fabricate items (this is mainly for when you're fabricating items that are not required in the current workshift, if you are in one).
  22. DO NOT OFFLINE RAID.
    1. Offline raiding is the act of attacking the base/outpost of an organization without its owner(s) being online on the server and on their character.
    2. For Union-sided establishments or outposts, look at Rule 19.
    3. If you are unsure if the action you are about to execute is considered an offline raid, consult with a member of Staff.

(S2) Donator Rules:

  1. AS A ZOMBIE/HEADCRAB, YOU ARE RESTRICTED TO THE SEWERS.
    1. You are prohibited from going to the surface or in any public area, unless given explicit permission from an Administrator+.
  2. AS A BIRD, DO NOT INTERACT WITH HUMANS.
    1. Your interaction with human characters should be kept to a minimum, unless given explicit permission to do otherwise from an Administrator+.
    2. To you, humans are giant, scary beasts. Your first instinct should be to fly away when they approach you or attempt to interact with you.
  3. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOUR NON-HUMAN CHARACTERS TAMEABLE.
    1. Be it headcrab, zombie, bird, or otherwise, you cannot be tamed.
    2. Birds can be exempt after extensive ic training and authorization from an Administrator+.
  4. THE BIRD/ZOMBIE TO HUMAN RATIO IS 1:5.
    1. There have to be 5 human characters for every 1 bird or zombie. If the ratio is not met, stay on a human character.
    2. This rule is except if specified otherwise by an Administrator+.

(S3) Combat Rules:

  1. SHOOT TO KILL IS ENFORCED ONLY ON:
    1. Firearm vs Firearm.
    2. Firearm vs Melee (Long Range).
    3. (This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Senior Administrator+).
  2. SHOOT TO ROLEPLAY IS ENFORCED ONLY ON:
    1. Firearm vs Melee (Short Range).
    2. Melee vs Melee.
    3. (This does not apply if stated otherwise by a Senior Administrator+).
  3. YOU MUST WAIT 3 SECONDS BEFORE INITIATING S2K.
    1. After pasting, typing or pressing your attack bind, you must wait 3 seconds before actually engaging your target. During this time they may not engage you either.
    2. When initiating a S2K engagement, you MUST use the /MeL command and include "(S2K) " (yes, including the space) at the start of your attack action, otherwise, the countdown will not be triggered.
    3. This rule does not apply to Overwatch Transhuman Arm characters.
  4. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID REASON FOR ATTACKING SOMEONE.
    1. "My character is mentally unstable" is not a valid reason to attack someone.
    2. If you are unsure whether your reason is valid or not, please consult with a Member of Staff before carrying out your action.

(S4) Permanent-Kill Rules:

Note: Although the following rules exist, they are merely used as guidelines. if a member of Staff believes your character should (not) be Permanently Killed, you have to respect their decision. If you disagree with it, please contact the current Administrative Manager or anyone above.
  1. YOUR CHARACTER WILL BE PERMANENTLY KILLED FOR AN IC ACTION UNLESS THE FOLLOWING APPLY:
    1. Death was unintentional and not roleplayed, eg. accidentally falling off a ladder because source ladders are dumb or a roof due to lag, etc.
    2. Death was caused by a firing line of Civil Protection Functionaries during Witness Sterilization.
    3. Death was caused in a S2K engagement and you were not necessarily the intended target (eg you were caught in a crossfire or confused with someone else).
  2. CIVIL PROTECTION CHARACTERS GET PERMANENTLY KILLED IF:
    1. Dispatch wanted you deserviced ICly.
    2. The reason for your death is completely your fault (eg. Patrolling alone in a dark alleyway, responding to dangerous requests alone, not following clear protocol, etc).
What happens if your character does not get Permanently Killed:
Should your death cause fall under any of the specified exceptions above, you will forget the events that lead to your death, and the person who was killed will be replaced by another ordinary citizen ICly.
For Civil Protection characters, they will be moved back a single rank.

THESE RULES ARE NOT LIMITED TO WHAT IS SPECIFIED ABOVE. STAFF MAY DECIDE WHAT IS AND IS NOT AGAINST THE RULES USING THEIR INTERPRETATION AND JUDGEMENT. IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT A STAFF MEMBER'S DECISION, CONTACT THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER PRIVATELY.
ANY UPDATES/CHANGES TO THESE RULES WILL BE DOCUMENTED IN A POST BELOW.
