Japan is known to be one of the regions of the planet that experiences a very high number of earthquakes, ranging from small ones to large, destructive ones, all over the region on a regular basis. Despite City Eight being one of the most technologically advanced urban centers on the globe, the Universal Union has failed to take the necessary precautions to combat the effects of such seismic activity and is now paying the ultimate price of their inaction.

As a result of a large earthquake, several parts of the infrastructure of both the city and nearby union facilities were greatly impacted, some becoming impaired and some failing completely. One of those that completely failed were the large restrictors around the perimeter of the city, which were responsible for keeping unwanted, dangerous pests outside of city bounds. It does not take much for one to guess what ensued afterward.

The Combine, in an effort to regain control of the city and restore the socio-stability, conducted an immediate temporary relocation of the entire populace to a nearby relocation center, Terminal 6, until the city returned to a safe and habitable state.

This event, while it will mostly revolve around passive roleplay, will serve as an initial ‘ignition’ to (one of) the server’s storylines. Your actions on this event and any sub-events within it will shape the future of the event factions and any future follow-up stories and/or events regarding them.

The Transitional Authority is the locally established Civil Protection regiment in Terminal 6. Ranging from officers that willingly assigned themselves to this location and functionaries that were failing in their duties in ordinary urban centers and were re-assigned here as a form of punishment, these units are the peacekeepers of the region. As a result of the minimal overwatch surveillance in the area, many units have developed questionable tactics when it comes to dealing with crime.

The minimal overwatch surveillance in Terminal 6 has led to the creation of many Anti-Union organizations in the area, the most prominent of them all being the House of Kusari - a local group mainly composed of Japanese individuals that have consolidated themselves outward from urban centers. It is a small, secretive organization performing sabotage actions all over Honshu, trained in guerilla warfare and sabotage tactics while being bound to a strict code of conduct.

What used to be an insurance company, the NICo has, over time, turned into a mafia-like organization that has devoted itself to gaining as much money and influence in Terminal 6 as possible, by any means necessary. These loan sharks are known for making deals and bribing the Transitional Authority to do their bidding and pull strings around in the Commerce Committee in their favor.

The Commerce Committee is the collection of stores and businesses around the area, composed of a few hard-working citizens who are in ownership of stalls, restaurants, and other locations of interest around Terminal 6 that provide services to other citizens in one way or another.

EVENT INFORMATION / Q&A

Where will the event take place?
The event will take place on the main 32-slot server, on the map Terminal 6.

When will the event start?
We require a certain amount of event characters to be established before we can calculate the exact date and time that the event will take place. When we accumulate the numbers we are looking for and we establish an approximation of the event date, it will be announced on this thread, the steam group and on the discord server. That could range from a few weeks, to a month or even more, depending on how much interest the community shows.

How long will the event last for?
The event will last for approximately one week, depending on the feedback we receive from the players. If people like it and are enjoying it, we may extend it a bit - if not, we may shorten it.

Is this a map-change event?
No, it is not. We are returning to our City Eight edit upon completion of this event.

What factions are involved in the event?
This is an all-faction event. That means every faction may participate, from citizens to Civil Protection, to Civil Workers’ Union, The Resistance, and more, except for the Dispatch/Overwatch faction.

What characters can I bring to the event?
Every character may be used on the event, with no restrictions, unless otherwise specified by an Event Manager, an Administrator or above, or the Internal Affairs/Management Team.

What will happen to the characters in the event factions after the event ends?
Depending on the character’s actions and what faction they were in, among other factors, they may be allowed to be kept and used after the event is over and we return to City Eight.

What are the Permanent Kill rules and guidelines for the duration of the event?
While the event will be, for the most part, a passive-roleplay event, the standard Permanent Kill rules will apply, which can be viewed here.

What content do I need for the event?
Everything required to participate in the event will be added to the main content collection for the duration of the event, which can be accessed here.​

Short character backstory: Having arrived in Terminal Six 5 years back, Anthony was separated from his brother and sister. Despite originally being headed to the same city, overfilled buses forced the authorities to ship off his family with whichever buses had empty seats. Both of these transfers were destined for a separate Terminal elsewhere on the continent, and as a result, Anthony had no way to track where his brother and sister had ended up.

As a result of this, Anthony decided to slip out of the line for a transfer when NICo showed up in force to collect an outstanding debt with one of the Functionaries corraling Transfers of the line Anthony found himself in. He decided to stay at Terminal 6 indefinitely in the hopes some of his family would show back up. In the meantime over the following months, Anthony would fall in with NICo and end up doing a brief stint as an enforcer, debt-collector, and subsequently button man.

Eventually, in order to serve the organization that not only took him in but agreed to keep eyes and ears out for word of his missing family, he opted to enlist into the Transitional Authority to both keep tabs on whether or not his family would pass through again and to further serve the organization as their resident made man on the inside where he has now spent close to 4 years.

Character Physical description Hae is an older 5'10 Korean man. He's in no way imposing with his beer belly and prominent smile lines, his age also shows by his receding hairline. He has a small WPK pin of Kim-Il Sung in his pocket.
Short Character Backstory: Hae Min was born in North Korea, using his charisma and ambition to work his way into influence in the Worker's Party, although, that would all collapse when the 7 Hour War occurred, and all global governments bent the knee to the new rulers, and Hae Min fell in line with every other citizen of earth, despite his efforts to rise above.

Being a generally self centered man, Hae Min was full of bitterness and hate at the new administration, since they ruined all his hard work to rise above the common filth. But he is not a fighter, instead of taking up arms like some did, he just resorted to drinking, giving up on his ambitions that he worked his entire life to strive towards, eventually ending up as a permanent resident Terminal 6 a few years after the 7 Hour War he became a common sight on the streets, though not an unwelcome one as he'd share drinks and smokes with transfers and Transitional Authorities when he could. He gained a name for himself over the next few years as a friendly and helpful face to everyone in Terminal 6, from the Transitional Authority to the House of Kusari, Just the friendly drunkard.

Eventually, Hae Min would find himself witnessing a transaction gone wrong of NICo's, and leapt at the chance, helping them out with what he saw in exchange for employment,
Min began to use his reputation around Terminal 6 in his favour, boosting himself into a higher position of power. He likely doesn't have such a reputation in Terminal 6 anymore, especially since he has attempted to wipe away his unflattering past as a drunkard, and demands respect as a representative of NICo.
Once again striving to rise to the top.

Short character backstory:
Born in Canada Samuel Smith had a troublesome childhood due to the troublesome relations with his teachers and being a frequenter to the principles office. But at the same time, he had his supporting family behind him encouraging Samuel to undertake his life and change it for the better. His family was indeed his greatest motivation.

After much trial and error, he graduated from a school attempting to study various fields never sticking to his true purpose. After some time he chose to move towards Japan in the great capital of Tokyo. He lived there slowly increasing the status of his life, learning the Japanese language bit by bit. Meeting friends here and there. Until the fateful day, he met his special person named Seisake. The one he holds dear the most.

In 2001 the invasion. He was at work as a security officer at a private office. He realized this was the end of humanity and possibly the earth. He immediate grabbed his flip phone and called everyone he could call to say his final goodbyes

He got relocated to city eight due to his pre-war occupation. Later he chose to join the force to keep a stable mind by distraction.

During his on-duty, he was assigned in a sewer sweep, unfortunately, due to his lack of focus on cooperating, a horrible incident occurred, causing his colleague to die from a fully grown infestation area. The higher-ups approached him with a decision of being deserviced or prove his 'worth' from being sent to Terminal Six. Samuel desperately chose to be transferred to only just realize what he just got himself into...

After elementary school, Antonio started to show a huge charisma (bribing wise). He was able to pursue a lot of people in doing what he wanted. Of course, it were just small things but gaining some candy and a bag of chips from it wasn't too bad.

Short character backstory:
Born in Kyoto Japan, Genji was a poor child, he grew up as a street rat and stole things because of his situation.
Eventually becoming part of a Japanese Mafia known as Nemutte Iru Kuma. This particular gang were drug smugglers and loan-sharks.
Genji eventually had to come to terms with life when the combine took over the planet.
His connections to the Mafia had luckily found him in favor after being transferred to Honshu with many of his fellow gang-members also being in the city.
His ideology didn't fall in line with how the Universal Union governed the world thus led to his entry in the House of Kusari due to his skills in Nemutte Iru Kuma he now serves a sort of man of action. The person to get things done. The fidelity of his work is clean and well executed as long as he has someone to follow. He doesn't really believe in the freedom fighting he just wants freedom for the constant struggle of living within the Universal Union's control.

Short character backstory:
Leslie is a native Bostoner of nearly four and a half decades, he was born in Boston, he was raised in Boston, and he would've died in Boston if it weren't for the combine who came in and foiled his immense love for his arguably not so great city. After the occupation Leslie bounced around what used to be the United States, doing mostly restaurant and cooking related work on poor wages in some of the worst shitholes you can think of. Gradually though he was moved towards Japan, landing in Osaka, where he learned to cook in an oriental style, adding to his ever increasing repertoire of cooking styles.

By the time he turned 29 he decided he'd had enough of being a low wage cook, and decided to make a drastic change in his life. He enlisted in the civil protection. Gone would be the days of getting bullied by he powers that be, he would climb up the food chain. Of course he figured out very quickly that this might've not been the best choice. Leslie wasn't exactly suited for working the complex city beats, too many moving parts for him. He looked for a way out, but there wasn't really any, except one.

The transitional authority was looking for officers who were dumb enough to enlist, Leslie enlisted and without giving him time to rethink his decision he was put on a bus with his dufflebag, never to see a city street again. The next 14 years consisted of paperwork, cooking, gaining weight, handling arrested suspects and doing processing of newly arrived citizens. He has spent as little time outside as possible, knowing full well it's an eventual death sentence working among these people. He predates most of the officers and commanders at terminal 6, by now Terminal 6 is all he knows, and it'll probably also be his final resting place.

Short character backstory: Akihiko was born to a proud but poor family of 8, including his raging alcoholic of a father and a meek mother, in the beautiful tourist hotspot of Kamakura. The young boy was raised with a firm and violent hand, shaping his character into that of a shy and introverted person - which he was relentlessly bullied for. As he came into his teenage years, the young Akihiko grew to direct his deep anger towards the tourists and outlanders in his town, growing to despise them and slowly radicalising his ideals.

After the Combine invasion, Akihiko was approached by a group of people who seemed to share his nationalistic ideals of a Japan free of outside control, and of a greater good towards the well-being of his people no matter the cost. This group came to be known as 'The House of Kusari', a guerrilla organization adhering to a strict code of conduct. It was this organization that had welcomed Akihiko with promises of friendship and camaraderie, enabling his radical ideals and showering him with a sense of purpose for the first time in his life.

Over the years Akihiko, now pushing in his twenties, came to be known as a reliable yet timid person, who would go to great lengths to further the goals of the Kusari. In-between missions of sabotage and espionage carried by the group, Akihiko lived in a small camp outside the urban centers with his comrades, where he spent his free time learning from the senior members about honor, Japanese history, guerrilla tactics, and most importantly improvised bomb crafting. Young Aki quickly became the cell's go-to explosives expert, who would assemble, disassemble and test bootleg explosives and ordnance captured from the Combine.

Now Akihiko, being one of the group's most trusted members, has been sent into Terminal 6 following a major earthquake in City 8 to gather intel on the current situation and to recruit and radicalize naive citizens relocated to the Terminal.

Short character backstory: A male who had a troubling childhood growing up seeing a strong police force as his idol. After the invasion of the Universal Union he would procced to idolize the Universal Union and the anonymous brute-styled officers. The man would sign up to join the Civil Protection becoming a anonymous officer among others. The officer would volunteer to be moved to Terminal-6 for the greater of the Union.

Short character backstory:
Before Benjamin was transferred to Terminal Six. He used to be the owner of a bar somewhere in City 8, District 3. Due to his popularity in district 3, this leads to The Commerce Committee offering him to relocate to Terminal Six.

When Benjamin was given the offer, he took some time deciding to go there or not with others, it was a hard decision as the Commerce Committee went generous with him with their many amounts of stocks he could have for his store.. He finally chose to accept the offer and went to Terminal six..

As he got transferred in, it would strike him hard, upon arrival he could sense the dreadful atmosphere. He gulped as he stepped off the train his mind would be running with thoughts.. "Why did I come here?" "Was this a smart choice?"

After sleeping during his first night in Terminal Six he woke up with a clear head and decided that he needed some form of protection. After inquiring with a few locals he met up with a group named NICo.. Who of course for a small sum of money directed him towards a somewhat corrupt Transitional Authority officer that could get him a weapon for the right price.

After meeting up with him on a dark night in a sketchy ally. The Transitional Authority's visor reflected in the street light. Benjamin again gulped as he approached the individual As the raspy vocoded tone going down his spine.. This could be the end he thought to himself... But luckily that didn't happen. The deal went smoothly. Trading a standard-issue 9MM pistol with a single magazine for a plentiful sum of Tokens.

He rushed back to his restaurant, promised himself to never use the pistol in a violent manner, and only use it to save his life and to keep his customer safe.

Minako lived in Terminal 6 before the war with her father and brother, her father owned a small family Tea House and watched as the Combine turned his small community into a glorified bus stop, and quickly became associated with the House of Kusari, pledging to give his son to them when he was of age, and he did, while Minako was trained to upkeep the family business, eventually her father fell Ill and died.
Over the years Minako began to associate with the House of Kusari, having inherited her fathers hate of the Combine... And wanting to see her brother again.
She uses her status as a member of the Commerce Committee to play nice with the Combine, while secretly letting the House of Kusari stow weapons in her shop, use it for meetings, and whatever they need it for, trying to support them as much as possible, short of actually joining them.

Short character backstory: Adrik was born in Kazan, Russia. He lived a pretty average life until around the age of 14 when the Union first arrived on earth. He was stripped away from his family and sent to work in a Child Labour camp. In this camp, he was fed propaganda that turned him into the perfect little loyalist. He left the camp at 19 years old, nearly instantly enlisting as a member of the Civil Protection

Despite his loyalty, he believed the methods the Civil Protection employed were incredibly inefficient and often took to taking things into his own hands. He also found it difficult to grow out of his old religious beliefs. These two factors led him to volunteer to act as a Transitional Authority member, stationed in Terminal 6.

Short character backstory: Oliver grew up in a military household. His father was a reserve member of the United States army, causing him to have to move around quite a bit. During the small number of times he would spend with his father, he would go to gun ranges with him. His father would often remind Oliver to always be willing to put yourself on the line for the wellbeing of others.
When his father died during the Seven Hour war, Oliver made a vow to always stick true to his father's moral code, of always putting the safety of others above your own. 10 years after the Seven Hour War, Oliver met with a member of the House of Kusari in City Five, who told Oliver of his cause, and eventually recruited him.

Short character backstory: Gerbat was in an administrator position of a smaller installations company before the 7 hour war. When the 7 hour war happened, Gerbat lost it all and spent most of his life in city 45. He didn't give up, and worked his way up to becoming a loyalist. From here he was eligible to join the CWU. He had ownership of the city laundromat and led workshifts in it on occasion. Later it turned out Gerbat had a problem with alcohol when his place was searched. The UU alcohol wouldn't cut it for him, and it was revealed he was an active dealer with the black market, supplying the rebellion with clean and quality clothes, even disguises, all to get his fix.

Gerbat realized that he was caught, and snuck out through the backdoor, and had to leave town. Because Gerbat had a good allegiance with the rebel group of his city, he got a chance to leave the city. He made up a story, implying he would come back, but he never would. He knew what the combine could do for a small discrepancy, and wanted to leave and get as far away as he could. Gerbat had a long journey, facing many obstacles and dangers outside the city. But also had the luck of being helped in exchange for services. He could get his hands on transport and equipment. Having traversed by truck, and boat, Gerbat was exhausted, and ended up stuck in Terminal 6. Short character backstory: Renaldo worked at the local police force in his town. He was so good at it that he got promoted to field officer and direct the new recruits. After the 7 hour war he was brought to Terminal 6 instantly as they needed his expertise in the field. Only down side was, that he had to start from the bottom nevertheless.
