In your own words, describe the Vortessence:
Vortigaunts do believe in a binding-life force named 'Vortessence', which is a part of the universe and connects everything around. In essence of that, they communicate with each over certain distances and can be also referred as 'Flux shifting'. Besides intercommunication between Vortigaunts, they posses the ability to cast energy beams through their claws - proving useful in medical conditions where they can heal humans injuries as minor to major wounds, power electrical devices, provide a light source or use as self-defense. However, their power is not unlimited - upon using their various abilities, they get exhausted thus recharging their force by meditation.
In addition, their native language is called Vortigese. Their way of speaking is soft and deep yet they're talking to each other simultaneously - making them difficult to understand. They can as well speak in English, not in the greatest manner but in a way they can have an understandable dialogue.
Vortigaunt slaves doesn't have the exact fate. They are enslaved by the Combine empire, greatly diminishing their ablities to none by placing a special device over their third arm - which also blocks all intercommunications.
Show how you interpret the difference between Vortigaunt RP and Human RP:
To show off the greatest similarity, both humans (rebels, mostly) and vortigaunts do attempt to fight for the next day by scavenging for food, supplies, etc by being in opposition with the Combine. However, Vortigaunts in general do not have bad intentions such as snitching various hidden groups prohibited by Universal Union, stealing and murdering in comparison to humans. Some humans may prove as being loyal to the resistance, showing indeed opposition to the invaders and others could gather information and defect their secrets and plans to the Union.
More concretely, Vorts do share almost exact stereotype where humans do have hundreds. In addition, their freedom has a fine line in comparison - resistance members are allowed to go on the surface playing as a casual citizen, where Vortigaunts are still exposed to death or even being enslaved once again even they're in the sewers or underground basements due to periodic sweeps in less combine controlled areas.
Provide your opinion on how your Vortigaunt would react to a fight between two resistance members:
A Vortigaunt never seeks war between his fellows, so in order to accomplish peace between the two members he would attempt to use his words. In such case, the Vort would try to stay neutral and don't cooperate with one against another - firmly reminding them they're sharing the same fate and fighting for the same purpose yet abusing each other won't do any benefit just harm. In most circumstances, violence won't be used unless they're really about taking their lives out by pointing the guns at each other - however, In that case I'd still use the words and try very calmly to put each other's gun down in order to holster them. -violence begets violence- .
Even though I'm put in a more difficult and spicy situation such as I'm taking part of a group and the leader is having a bad argument with another leader or higher staff of a contiguous group, is best to remain neutral and diminish the spark between them.
Describe why you deserve/want a Vortigaunt character using your Vortigaunt's vocabulary:
This one believes in himself.. believes has sufficient knowledge to deal in many circumstances due to one's kin experience in distant past. We shall trust our instincts when ourselves crave something.. distinct such as changing our way of roleplaying under the wing of freedom warriors whose victory will draw nigh as we remain united against the maskmen.
Provide a backstory of your Vortigaunt:
Vak'Yen's homeworld were invaded by an unknown advanced enemy that spans across parallel universes and dimensions, enslaving the specified race at their own will - referring to the 'Combine' empire. Forcing them to run away from the assault, to the Xen - thus being enslaved by Nihilanth. After a long time, Black Mesa's incident was the key point of story for Vak, since all the portals were being opened and made an attack towards the Research Facility among other Vortigaunts being controlled by Nihilanth. The assault has been done via a teleportation, which led Xen creatures to the Facility, slaughtering mercilessly all the personnel inside. Vak, however was teleported together with a few of his peers in a location that had access to a route outside the Facility - but still being under the influence, they wouldn't escape at all. By the time, Nihilanth were defeated - releasing them from his manipulation, thus Vak had the opportunity to use the escape route among other Vortigaunts.
The base has been destroyed, everything is shattered into pieces together with the world overrun by the most feared species of the universe, the Combine empire. The world has been separated into two divisions - one part is the conquered, enslaved and indoctrinated and one part is the remaining slice of humanity and freedom, here Vak sits in. Through countless hours of hiding, constantly finding new nests to cover together with some remaining fellows and human survivors, Vak adapted into understanding and learning their native language -English. The level of grammar might not be outstanding but enough to have an understandable dialogue. However, those intruders that captured Vak’s homeworld are as well hitting the Earth, logically he’d form sort of alliance with the survivors in order to attempt overthrowing them. Cities have been divided, people were relocated, some Vak’s fellows were once again enslaved. Today, the sewers and other zones that aren’t controlled by the empire offer an extended life span and freedom in which Vak would preffer to shed, rather than being enslaved and tortured again.
